Soulmask: Methods and Precautions for Capturing the Legendary Black Panther Mount

The black panther mount in Soulmask is one of the more difficult mounts to capture in the game. What do you need to pay attention to and prepare for when trying to capture a legendary black panther?

From recent experiences, I’ve discovered two things.

1. Spears can be used for mobile attacks. In other words, other weapons can also be used for mobile attacks, but the game developers didn’t implement this.
2. Each mount has different abilities. The panther can jump, with a movement speed/acceleration of about 10 meters per second, normal movement speed in water, very flexible turning and camera angles, and extremely thick health and defense.

The alpaca’s true attributes are hard to determine due to the saddle and not encountering anything above green rarity. The green quality carrying capacity is similar to that of the black panther.

It’s recommended to start off by capturing a panther as soon as you can afford the leather armor, as it can save a lot of time and effort, avoiding the need to hunt for water. Panthers can be fed raw meat and are easy to care for…

Capturing a Panther Mount Here’s a brief overview of the process for capturing a panther mount. First, go to an area where panther footprints appear, scan the area, and then interact with the footprints until the mother panther appears. Stay away from the mother panther as it hunts and returns home, after which it will give birth. A level 30 baby panther will appear nearby. Lead the baby panther into a medium capture cage to take it back home.

Things to Note

1. Only one mother panther will spawn in an area. If someone else is trying to spawn one, move to a different location.
2. The quality of the cubs seems to be random, but only black panthers give birth to black panther mounts, which are red quality cubs.
3. There is no cooldown on mother panther footprint spawns. After killing a mother panther, the footprints will respawn quickly for the next one.
4. There seem to be two types of footprints: one for spawning the mother panther and another for marking the cub’s movement route.
5. There can only be around two cubs in the same area.
6. If a mother panther is killed while cubs are present, you need to capture or kill the cubs to immediately spawn another mother panther. Otherwise, all the footprints in the area will be for cubs.
7. Mother panthers have time and area restrictions. If they stray too far from the marked point, they will disappear.
8. Cubs will always be present but will grow into adult panthers (approximately) after some time.
9. Mother panthers will remain even after killing players. It’s recommended to use the main body to spawn them to avoid mistakenly drawing aggro.
10. Always check if the cage is open; you can’t capture a panther if the cage is closed.
11. It’s best to clear dangerous animals from the area before starting to spawn footprints.
12. The mother panther’s hunting, returning home, and giving birth can be interrupted by other hostile animals. You don’t need to worry; let the mother panther kill them, and the process will continue.
13. Even if there are no animals nearby, the system will spawn one after a certain time, allowing the process to continue.
14. If the footprints you’re tracking suddenly disappear, there’s a high probability that a mother panther has spawned nearby. Crouch and press Q to track it remotely.

Preparation

1. It’s recommended to max out the mask’s scanning range.
2. Bring extra cages in case all cages are triggered and break during the capture. You can dismantle broken cages and repair other cages with the materials recovered, making them usable again.
3. Max out the mask’s energy reserve technology or bring a lot of stones to replenish mask energy. Scanning requires a large number of uses during the process.
4. Bring more weapon equipment for killing mother panthers.
5. Before starting, set up a bonfire, rain shelter, and gather a bunch of wood.
6. Switch back to the main body before going out to avoid sudden death.
7. Prepare some bait for the medium capture cage and you can also feed it to the baby panther afterward…
8. Bring a bunch of small stones made of stone, throw them out to attract the baby panther into the trap cage with sound.
