Base Selection

Based on my observation of all the bases in the previous server, they can be divided into the following categories, sorted by recommendation:
- Near two tribal camps, which is the best option. Resources are abundant and convenient for both early and mid-game stages. There are plenty of resources in the early game, and you can farm slaves in the later stages. It is especially recommended to build between the two camps, slightly to the left. There are also plenty of clay and small animals for breeding, as well as being close to tin ore. In the later stages, you can directly open a secondary base using a portal when you change maps.
- Near a specific resource, such as by a river or a mine. This is a second-choice option for those who didn’t manage to secure a spot near tribal camps.
- Near a relic, especially those near the spawning point. This is good for excessive use in the early game. You can farm the green crystal near the relic, but the demand for green crystal is limited. It loses its effectiveness in the later stages, so it’s best to relocate to a higher-level area as soon as possible.
Base Layout
Due to AI invasions,
The current problem with invasions is that they occur randomly, sometimes even when no one is online, which can be very damaging. Even if your base is full of spike traps, the AI monsters, when attacked, will start demolishing surrounding buildings. So, after the spike traps attack once, if no player intervenes, the monsters will proceed to dismantle everything in their path.
Furthermore, the invasion route of the monsters is from their spawning point to your camp, not necessarily through the door. If the door is open, they will head towards it, allowing you to control their path, but it also makes it easier for elites to charge straight into your base.
If the door is closed, they will start dismantling the nearest wall instead of going through the door.
The intensity of invasions increases each time. While spike traps can withstand the earlier waves, once the intensity exceeds a certain threshold, a wave during the early hours can easily lead to the destruction of your base if no one from the tribe is present. Therefore, this layout recommendation is based on the logic of dismantling invasions.
Based on the painful lesson of a midnight invasion, I simulated the monsters’ movements when dismantling a base.
After breaking through the perimeter, they first dismantled the wall leading to the campfire, causing the foundation near this wall to be dismantled. The biggest loss was the disappearance of the boxes on top of this area due to the lack of foundation.
Then they dismantled the campfire and nearby buildings.
After dismantling the campfire, they had time and successively dismantled the surrounding area, the smoking rack, and the area where the idol was located.
When the time was up, the invading barbarians retreated.
Therefore, it is evident that the main target of the invasion is the campfire, and secondly, they will take nearby food.
Base Layout Suggestions
- The campfire area should be far from the work and storage areas. This way, if the campfire is dismantled, the loss will not be particularly large, at least not in terms of materials.
Many people are used to placing a campfire in the middle, surrounded by workbenches, a large house, and boxes against the wall, which results in the biggest loss.
In my subsequent base layout reconstruction, I chose to place the campfire on the first floor, breeding on the second floor, the idol, and work area on the third floor. At the same time, the idol is also kept at a distance from the work area. Additionally, you can place more foundations near the campfire for them to dismantle, as foundations have the highest durability.
Or, if the area is large, place the campfire outside and build pillars and a roof next to it. This area should be separate, with the roof to extinguish the campfire when it rains, and surround it with spike traps and foundations.
Place your house and work area in the opposite direction.
Of course, this is for PvE layouts.
For PvP, it is still recommended to use the fully enclosed structure mentioned above, but with the campfire and work area separated.
- Leave enough spike traps and restricted areas within the campfire’s coverage area. It is best not to build right up to the coverage area for space, as slight displacement when changing campfires can easily lead to areas on the edge not being covered.
- If you want to expand the coverage area, build another campfire, but the door can be placed in the middle of the coverage areas of the two campfires. Each campfire faces its own invasion, allowing you to defend against invasions on both campfires with the same defense system.
